Customer's Requirements
Our customer approached us looking to replace a competitor's fan in the B787. Our customer was unhappy with several aspects of their current solution, including price and performance. Rotron designed part number 012174501 specifically to replace this fan. Our customer had demanding specification for fan performance, including acoustics.
Rotron's Solution
Originally intended to simply be a high-speed 5-blade Spartan, 0-5V speed control was later implemented to allow the same design to be used for both the evaporator and condenser fans. The customer’s demanding acoustic requirements were met by replacing the existing 5-blade prop with a quieter 11-blade prop.
Rotron’s success in meeting the customer’s technical and price targets for the B787 made us the natural choice for the matching application on the A320 Neo, for which the fan’s electronics were upgraded to in response to past field failures.

DC Spartan 2
Tubeaxial fans, which are integrated axial flow air moving devices, excel in aerospace and defense applications where space constraints are a critical consideration. Their unique design incorporates the motor rotor directly within the impeller, allowing for the smallest possible axial dimension.
